Back in 2016 we launched our compostable brand 2humus. However, SPP has been exploring and developing compostable materials since the early 2000s.

There are two main categories of compostable packaging – home and industrially compostable.
Home compostable packaging is biodegradable in a home compost environment, and SPP hold TUV OK Compost HOME certification to this demanding standard with some of our high performance 2humus materials.
Industrial compostable packaging is biodegradable in higher temperatures in industrial composting facilities. EN 13432 is a globally known standard for compostable plastics in industrial composting, we also hold TUV OK Industrial certification for a wide range of 2humus materials.
Due to the nature of the natural plant-based materials used, there are still some applications that are not well suited to compostable packaging.
